// Scripting

A player controller in 15 lines

Scripts are plain JavaScript. Read input, set velocity, react to collisions. If you know a little JS, you already know how to make a game in Telu.

  • Hooks: start, update, onCollision, onTrigger, onClick, onDestroy
  • Keyboard input with axes and key presses
  • Shared game variables and scene switching
PlayerController.js
// Simple platformer controller
function start() {
  self.speed = 280;
  self.jumpPower = 640;
}

function update(dt) {
  const dir = input.axis('horizontal');
  self.vx = dir * self.speed;

  if (input.pressed('space') && self.grounded)
    self.vy = -self.jumpPower;
}

function onTrigger(other) {
  if (other.tag === 'coin') other.destroy();
}

// FAQ

Questions?

Is Telu 2D Studio really free?

Yes. You can download it and make games without paying anything. Donations are optional and help development.

Do I need to know how to code?

You can build scenes and physics without code. For game logic you write small JavaScript scripts, and the editor includes a cheat sheet plus a demo project to learn from.

Where can I publish my games?

Anywhere that hosts a website: itch.io, GitHub Pages, Netlify, your own hosting. The build is a normal folder with an index.html.

Do my games work on phones?

Exported games run in modern browsers on desktop and mobile. Add touch or click controls with the onClick hook for mobile players.

Can I sell games made with Telu?

The games you make are yours. Have a specific question about licensing? Email us at hello@telu2dstudio.com.
